Certified Health Insurance Specialist (CHS):

A Certified Health Insurance Specialist is a professional financial advisor specializing in living benefits, including income replacement and risk management solutions for individuals, business owners and professionals. The CHS is the only designation in Canada donating specialized knowledge in all areas of living benefits and is the premier credential in the health insurance industry.

Registered Retirement Consultant (RRC):

A Registered Retirement Consultant is a professional financial advisor specializing in retirement concepts and strategies, as well as the estate planning process and the many considerations and strategies involved in developing an estate plan.

Elder Planning Counselor (EPC):

The Canadian Initiative for Elder Planning Studies believes that working with the maturing client involves a “total needs approach”, and that these needs evolve from an individual’s early wage-earning years and continue to change as the individual moves through the ageing process.

Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI)

The Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute is the highest honour and most senior credential in Canadian financial services. It is reserved solely for an elite group of experienced financial services professionals that meet the highest standards for advanced education, ethical conduct, industry experience and peer endorsement.

Steve’s passion and expertise revolve around retirement income planning, estate planning and inter-generational wealth management. Steve has a strong background in investment/portfolio management and uses these skills to optimize investment portfolios and financial plans for his clients. As an independent Certified Financial Planner he works for his clients so that they can relax and live the life that they envision.

Growing up in the Okanagan, Steve is an avid skier/snowboarder and golfer, having become a golf professional during university and continuing in the profession for a few years after graduation. Steve holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Victoria and is licensed as an associate portfolio manager in BC and Alberta. He is also licensed as an insurance advisor in BC and has been a Certified Financial Planner since 2010.

Keyana Poteate

Client Relationship Manager

Keyana joined the financial services industry in 2017 and brings strong administrative skills to her role as Tate Financial’s Client Relationship Manager. She is detail-oriented and works closely with Steve and Deb to ensure that clients consistently receive the highest level of service and professionalism in all interactions. She is knowledgeable, attentive and enjoys getting to know each of our clients. 

Since joining our team Keyana has completed the LLQP program and the Canadian Securities Course. She is licensed as a Life Insurance Advisor and Investment Representative in both BC and Alberta and continues to increase her industry education to expand her skill set. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, trying new restaurants and baking.
